It's a new season and the theme is crescendo! If you haven't seen the area this year here is the Youtube video! We have spent the last few weeks working on developing on our robot. So far we have come up with a design very similar to the "Ready in 3 Days" robot, but we are struggling on how to design the claws that attach to the chains. Those are a work in progress. We took banner pictures and they look very cool! Once they are hung up in the cafeteria we will be posting pictures.

Today Marketing team started to work on the bumpers. They had Noah cut out pieces of wood to test out how to set up the bumpers. They are going to continue to work on them Wednesday. Coding team is working on how to get our robot to function in the autonomous period. Jerry and Elias came in to help with the building and coding as well. Today we started off with a few members in the shop getting safety certified with the band saw and drill press. Mrs.Brogan kindly stayed after school to teach them how to safely use the machines. The members who learned all passed their safety tests and can now use the machines. Then after that, we all met in Mr.Eckhearts room for some team bonding. Where we put together a couple of puzzles. We all went down to the room afterward to work on the tours for the robot and to look at the code a bit more.
Today only half the team showed up as they were gone for one reason or another. We did get two new sponsors, Casey's and Home Federal were generous to donates pizzas and $150 to our team. Alex was put in charge of the robot's camera or "eyes" and he was able to build a prototype version of the code but was unable to test it as the team does not have a sutable camera. The old camera's wires had been severed, redering it useless and the only other camrea we could find had no power cord and could be reconized by any device. Coach Eckheart said he would look into seeing if the school had a USB webcam we could use, otherwise we will need to order one. The tower still isn't built yet and is supposed to be complety functional by this Saturday.
Today has been chaotic to say the least. The coding team is currently experiencing some issues with connecting to the RoboRio. They can't tell if it is the cord or the computer. The building team is still deciding on how to build and go about for the arm. They have a somewhat detailed idea of what they plan to do, but materials and balancing the robot is the tricky part. We did have a visitor today though, Lukas Thompson joined us! He is going to be a mentor and started to help build team today with the arm troubles. Marketing has been calling up different local businesses about fundraising and started to work on some flare. They have designed a couple of clothing designs and a flag. We will soon have shirts and hoodies for this season. On Wednesday, most team members will be learning how to use the band saw safely. Today's chaos will hopefully be resolved by Wednesday.
This year's season has certainly started off with a bang! New coach and a new team but we are ready to rock and roll our way into this year's competition. Our New coach is Paul Eckheart and after most of our team graduating, we are going through a complete reboot and restructure so that we can have our best season yet! We also have a bunch of new mentor this year to assist with programming and general mechanics. This year we will also be using CAD (Computer aided design) to further our robot's design and build structure this year. A photoshoot will be coming soon to get the latest team's picture. This Wednesday we will be discussing a general build plan to see if any modifications need to be made to our robot's base as for this year's challenge, we will need a grabber arm to pick up and place objects in our driving field. This year we have a large programming team so that we don't have the same programming mistakes as last year so that we can have a fully functional robot. Unfortunately, our team is quite small this year with about 6 students to complete this year's robot so we have to use our resources quite carefully. On the bright side, this year we have a dedicated sub-team (of one) for fundraising and we already have multiple businesses willing to donate and give our team a sponsorship this year. Our biggest donor to date has been Target who has graciously given our team a donation of $4,000 to cover our initial registration fees and Home Federal Bank, Valley Laundromat, and Valley Lanes have also pledges to donate as well. Things are looking up has we head into our 2023 season!
All teams met up today! We have a week and two days until the competition. The coding team worked on the Robo Rio and started to work on the code. The build team worked on the cannon. Teams had time to do some bonding together, Abi brought a foam bucket of slime. They tossed him around and gave him a fake eye. We love jared. <3 Today all teams met up because we have a week and a half till competition. The build team worked on the cannon and bumpers. We are still having issues with the bumpers. The coding and wiring team worked on the code.
